EXPLORING COOS COUNTY....

Oregon Dunes KOA is strategically located to be your home base for all that the Bay Area has to offer. Coos County has so much more to offer than just dune fun. Spend the day in Charleston - Visit and hike the trails at South Slough Estuary, rent a canoe and paddle the estuary, or visit Shore Acres and see the botanical gardens or whale watch from the pavilion. Travel a bit farther on Cape Arago Hwy and walk down to the tide pools. On your way back, watch the sea lions from the overlook. Travel 15 minutes north and enjoy the Umpqua Lighthouse - the only red lens on the Oregon Coast or continue on another 20 minutes and see Roosevelt Elk up close and personal at Dean Creek Elk Viewing Area! The following are just some of the hundreds of things to do in our area. Come spend some time with us and see what Coos County has to offer.

FISHING

Lake, river and stream fishing are popular pursuits. Early summer and late fall salmon runs offer the best chances for a great catch and hearty sportsmen will enjoy the challenges of winter steelhead fishing. Local guides always know those special spots where the "big ones" are hiding and what gear to use. If you can catch Robert or John, they might share some of their favorite fishing and hunting spots!

Here is a list of guides & charters

CRABBING & CLAMING

There are a number of crabbing and clamming sites just a short drive from the campground. You may crab at the Empire boat dock, the Charleston docks, or from a boat. Bays, estuaries, beaches, tide pools, and jetties are open all year.
